Identification of Technology Opportunities
EMBLEM is devoted to identifying existing and emerging intellectual property and materials at an early stage of their development. We help identify technological opportunities together with commercial partners and jointly define potential fields of application. Subsequently, we conduct a preliminary analysis to determine whether the technical and commercial exploitation of the intellectual property is feasible. If the outcome of this first evaluation is positive then EMBLEM will work closely with the inventor(s) to address ways of protecting, marketing and commercialising the given technology. 

Protection and Enhancement of Technology
In most cases, a considerable amount of additional effort and substantial investment(s) is required to develop technologies to the point where they can be commercially exploited by industry. EMBLEM works closely with a network of partners to develop technologies to a sufficient level of maturity such that they can be transfered to industry. To provide an adequate return on such investments, EMBLEM seeks to protect technologies with commercial promise. Whenever possible, preference is given to protecting technologies by patent applications. However, when appropriate and effective, we take other approaches for securing intellectual property rights including but not limited to copyright or utility model protection. To this end EMBLEM collaborates with a diverse team of patent experts and legal advisors throughout the world.
